I spent Mother’s Day wandering back alley’s with my little one. We sipped on Starbuck’s. She was testing out her new shoes. I was looking for interesting street locations to shoot at. We snagged some Vietnamese food at Thien’s downtown. We laughed, played, and teased each other.
Mother’s Day, as a single mom, isn’t much different then any other day. I wake up, I take care of me and mine, we laugh, take pictures, make a mess, clean up. Eat. Sleep. Repeat.
But it’s still a day where I get to tell myself how lucky I am to have her with me. Where I get to reflect on the women who have helped guide my steps here. To the clan of women I currently use as mentors, mothers, auntie’s an friends – women who all have a hand in raising my daughter. And I’m thankful.
