a poet photographer

a Daughter of Northern Saskatchewan*

*as described by MLA Buckley Belanger

By day, Dr. Tenille K Campbell captures the world through a Canon lens, specializing in natural light and the kind of portraits that make you look like the best version of yourself. By night (and also by day), she’s a doctor of letters, weaving together academic rigour and poetic pick-up lines with the wavering precision of a emerging beadwork artist.

Just deadly.

She lives in the sweet spot where storytelling meets visual art, likely surrounded by a rebellious collection of plants and the quiet hum of a life after dissertation. Whether she’s drafting her first novel and bemoaning her chosen craft or chasing sunsets in the North, she operates on a frequency of creative kinship and cultural depth.

for the ones who need it

Tenille K Campbell is an author, professional photographer, and multidisciplinary artist based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She holds a PhD in English from the University of Saskatchewan and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia, specializing in research-creation methodologies that bridge academic inquiry with cultural practice.

As the founder of sweetmoon photography, she specializes in natural light portraiture and event photography, while also maintaining a vibrant practice as a beadwork artist. Her doctoral work and poetry collection, matriarch rising, explores themes of Indigenous feminism, kinship, and self-love.

Beyond her creative and academic pursuits, she is an active member of the Indigenous Literary Studies Association (ILSA) and co-creator of the digital storytelling collective tea&bannock. Her work is deeply rooted in the concept of "Red Research-Creation," focusing on storytelling, artistic practices and kitchen-table aesthetics as rigorous forms of knowledge production.

When not behind the lens or the laptop, she can usually be found visiting coffee shops in search of her next caffeine fix or planning her next road trip, with her daughter Aerie in hand.
