I’ve been battling my own feelings of “not doing enough” while ignoring the fact that I am actually hella busy, and I just finished my annual album for 2025 and thought to really curate that down to some images that really reflect the adventures and stories that carries us through the year. When I think about it, I went from Terrace,BC to Albuquerque, NM to Ottawa, ON while also living in Prince George, BC with Aerie for three months in the dead of winter. And finishing my PhD. And running a business. We saw so many friends, and made so many new friends (shout out to social media for that) and drove so, so many kilometres. We ate great food, drank a lot of coffee, and ate bags of seeds as we road tripped throughout.
I think I do too much, in hindsight.
But either way, we did, in fact, get shit done. Lots of it. I beaded. I bought beads. I was gifted beads. It’s now a major part of my personality. Aerie won a giant Sonic. She also bought a Build a Bear Sonic. It’s a major part of her personality. She turned 14 – and yes, we did another Birthday Month for her. Spoiled so well by all her amazing aunties and uncles. We lived with Mom and Dad for the summer in the city while the North was evacuated for forest fires. Thank Creator we get along because I have a small apartment, ha. We did an end of summer road trip to Vancouver (we love Van) and saw so many kin and also got to stay in a boujie hotel, which Aerie loved. We celebrated Halloween and Christmas and did school events and got her first report cards back from high school and I got my final marks back, eeeeee, and yes.
It was a good, good year.
Ended the year at the Rez, as I have always done since Aerie was born. We managed to stay up until midnight, it was a struggle. We ate popcorn and watched home renovation shows and waited for Mom’s Christmas Clock to chime on the hour, as it does every hour. Then it was 2026, and time for another picture.
